On our first full day in Napoli we got up early (6am start) and caught the transfer to our boat for a day down the coast to Ravello and Positano.

I think I have booked us on a gay boat trip, all the crew are male, and I guess I would call the vibe “fabulous”. So after singing some famous Italian songs, followed by Mamma Mia, we transcend into early 2000’s ibiza club classics. My kind of boat tour. Out comes the Limoncello and sets us off for a good start wandering around Ravello. This is the only place we have not asked the cost of something before ordering it. Big lessons learned from this. It was very hot, and we found a juice place that had blood orange and lemon sorbets that are scooped into empty giant lemon skins. Out comes Gareth to announce as we are eating our sorbet they cost €15 each. So imagine we just spent $120 NZD on 4 sorbets…….
We found a restaurant to have brunch, Zach again can seem to only order Carbonara, and Kaia is obsessed with burgers, Gareth and I are hitting the aperitifs. I’m quite partial to a Hugo these days with Elderflower and Gareth can’t go past the aperol spritz. Speaking of branching out, our kids are now addicted to peach iced tea.

As we board the boat for Positano, the heat is getting more intense, so we head for the inside cabin of the boat hoping the air flow from the windows and the shade will be a bit cooler. At this point, I'm a little gutted I didn’t get everyone’s togs and towels. We dock at Positano and can honestly say we didn't do anything in the little town. We got off the wharf, walked across the stones, took our shoes off and stood in the water for 45 mins trying to regulate our temperature. It felt like bath water, so we may have been in water but the top half was still sweating. While the tour was supposed to be 10 hours, it was actually 12, and with tired hungry kids, ate at the same burger place Gareth had gotten takeaways the night before. Little did we actually realise this was the only decent place to eat around our accommodation.

WOW! 15E that's expensive.
